Got myself to Jack's on the old 29 bus to Belfairs, 9.25am ready for 10am start.
My band mate Tony Hawkins from 'One Big Sugar' put down some fab retro sounding guitar today, on Snakes & Ladders. Rhythm & lead guitar parts completed very quick & skillfully by Tony adding a nice edge to the track. A sterling effort considering he didn't get to bed until 4.30am, back from an airport run for his daughter!
A nice beer 'Speckled Hen' break with Jack for lunch @ Cosy Nook Studios, then back to work.
Jack & I then did some pre-production on the song. Adding more of Maddies trumpet sounds in the verse, to give the song a hooky ear-worm effect. Jack duplicating Tony's guitar solo making it jump out of the track, and general leveling of sounds etc.
Played it to Tina (my wife) and it made her dance in the kitchen, then she sang the chorus afterwards. A good sign, hopfully I might have an ear-worm ska/pop track here?
So now, I just have to put on my best effort vocally on the tune, then it's over to Jack to mix the track, and the 1st song is completed.
Back on the no. 29 home @4.25pm for a quick rest, then off for a gig in Bishops Stortford with Hazy Cosmic Vibe. Got in at 1.40am and sat down for some cheese/crackers and a glass of port, then royally conked out!
