7th Session with Jack at his CNS home studio was last Saturday, really interesting to get into the production stage of two songs now completed: 'Snakes & Ladders'/ 'A Good Life (Sort Of!)'. With the help of Jack's expertise we placed all the instruments in their right stereo positions, correct sound levels & edited various solo's to fit the songs.
8th Session commenced on Wednesday for the backing track of 'Good Times, Fun Times' (see: New Album Info for details) the 3rd song for my pre-album E.P release. I enlisted help from my dear musical buddies Dave & Fi Dulake (Tuppenny Bunters) for the song, as it has a 60's pop/soul feel. Dave & Fi, I thought, would be perfect to get that authentic retro-sound down.
Jack took his CSN Moblie studio, with his new fab overhead ribbon-mike to capture that live drum sound. Recorded at Barn Studios in Rayleigh, a perfect sounding room for recording live drums.
We recorded two takes: One at a normal mid-tempo speed for the album, then a punkier faster version for the single.
